Obituary of Patricia A. Lopes

CANASTOTA . . . Patricia A. Lopes, 70, of 8974 N. Main Street, Canastota, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at University Hospital, Syracuse, following a year-long battle with cancer. Pat was born on October 28, 1949, in Syracuse, the daughter of the late Robert Forkhamer and Mary (Sessler) Snyder. She spent her early years in N. Syracuse, graduating from N. Syracuse High School in 1969. She later lived in Bridgeport for nine years, and has lived in Canastota since 1983. Pat was a member of St. Agatha's Church in Canastota. She enjoyed going to car shows, and liked street rods, as well as spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Pat married Joseph G. Lopes on August 3, 1973, in Miami, FL. Surviving besides her husband, Joseph, are: one son, Jason Lopes and Tamela Smith of N. Syracuse; one daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Joseph Woodworth of Kirkville; six brothers and three sisters-in-law, James and Harriet Forkhamer of Parish, Richard Forkhamer of N. Syracuse, Daniel Forkhamer of Cicero, Robert Forkhamer of Syracuse, Steven and Susan Forkhamer of Deland, FL, and Alfred and Kimbra Forkhamer of New Smyrna Beach, FL; one sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Richard Clark of N. Syracuse; three grandchildren, Cai Woodworth, Avianna Woodworth, and Aurora Lopes; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. The Rev. Stephen P. Wirkes, Pastor of St. Agatha's Church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Agatha's Cemetery, Canastota. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
