UTICA . . .
Leona C. Hart, 89, of 1241 Lincoln Avenue, Utica, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare, Utica.
She was born on December 15, 1928, in Canastota, the daughter of the late Wilfred and Mary (Gebo) Miller.
Leona spent her early years in Canastota, attending the Chittenango Schools. She has lived in Utica since 1952.
She worked for CONMED Corporation in Utica for 28 years, and had also worked for Montgomery Ward in Utica and California.
Leona enjoyed sewing, cross stitch, fishing when she was younger, and spending time with her family.
She married Lewis D. Hart on June 20, 1950, in Whitesboro. Lewis died in 2005.
Surviving are: four sons and two daughters-in-law, Eric and LaJean Hart of Beebe, AR, Raymond and Margaret Hart of Utica, Keith Hart of Rome, and John Hart of Utica; one daughter and son-in-law, Rose Marie and George Appel of Utica; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Kenneth Arnold of Ohio, and John and Cindy Arnold of Canastota; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Dorothy Walker of Verona Beach, and Rosalie and Louis Leggett of Oneida; fourteen grandchildren, Craig Appel, David Appel, Christopher Appel, George Appel, Nicholas Hart, Josh Hart, Sean Hart, Tanya Hart, Raymond Hart, Crystal Hart, Josh Hart, Tyler Hart, Brianna Hart, and Adam Hart; fourteen great grandchildren, Meghan Appel, Anthony Appel, Kaylee Appel, Mikhail Appel, Kaiden Appel, Jordan Appel, Vance Duesler, Aniela Duesler, Camrin Duesler, Cheyenne Sciorilli, Grace Sciorilli, Ryleigh Ostrosky, Natalie Ostrosky, and Ryan Ostrosky; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Leona was predeceased by a daughter, Donna Jean Hart; four brothers, Louis Miller, Leo Miller, Alfred Miller, and Wilfred "Butch" Miller, Jr.; and two sisters, Edna Hill, and Mary Lou Pickard.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2018, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. Deacon Adolph Uryniak of St. Agatha's Church, Canastota, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Agatha's Cemetery, Canastota. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In her memory, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 7, E. Syracuse, NY 13057, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
