CANASTOTA . . .
Zachary A. Spekczynski, 24, of 245 Rosewood Circle, Canastota, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 7, 2021, at his home.
He was born on February 6, 1997, in Dunkirk, NY, the son of Angela Der and Adam Spekczynski.
Zachary spent his early years in Fredonia, and has lived in Canastota most of his life, graduating from Canastota High School in 2015. He later graduated from Alfred State College in 2017 and 2018, with an Associate's Degree in Automotive Technology.
He worked for Wilber Duck Chevrolet and Nye Chevrolet in Oneida, and recently started a new job with Feldmeier Equipment in Syracuse.
Zachary was a member of the Gamma Theta Gamma Fraternity. His fraternity brothers and sisters were a very important part of his life.
He enjoyed building computers, mixing music, being a DJ, gaming, and fixing and restoring cars. Zachary recently had been introduced to hunting by his best friend, Ryan Bishop, and found a love for it.
Surviving are: his mother, Angela Der of Canastota; his father, Adam Spekczynski of Holly Springs, NC; his maternal grandmother, Pamela Der of Canastota; several aunts and uncles including, his aunt, Sherry Stauffer of East Amherst, NY; his uncle, Michael Der of Charlotte, NC; his cousin, Mia Der, and other cousins; and an extended family of loving great aunts and uncles. Zachary was predeceased by his loving grandfather, David Der.
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2021, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. Face coverings and social distancing are required. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. William M. Wilcox will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Canastota.
