Obituary of Felice A. Ottaviano

CANASTOTA . . . Felice A. "Phil" Ottaviano, 85, of 4017 Mary Lynn Drive, Canastota, passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at the Oneida Healthcare Emergency Room. He was born on May 16, 1933, in the Bronx, NY, the son of the late Gelsmino and Caroline (Garguilo) Ottaviano. Phil lived in the Bronx most of his life, attending Columbus High School. He has lived in Canastota since 1994. He was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Navy. Phil worked for the US Postal Service in the Bronx for 33 years, retiring in 1986. He enjoyed gardening, spending time with his family, and was an avid New York Yankees fan. Phil married Catherine M. Giaquinto on February 11, 1956, in the Bronx. Surviving besides his wife, Catherine, are: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Anthony Ottaviano, and Philip and Chrissy Ottaviano, all of Liverpool; five grandchildren; one brother, Frank Ottaviano of Boca Raton, FL; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at St. Agatha's Church, 329 N. Peterboro Street, Canastota, where a funeral mass will be held. The Rev. Stephen P. Wirkes will officiate. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota.
