Obituary of Paul E. Johnson

CANASTOTA, NY Paul E. “Hoot” Johnson, 68, of Canastota, passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Oneida Health. He was born on March 2, 1953 in Canastota, a son of the late Stillman “Tilly” and Shirley J. (Bennett) Johnson. Paul attended Canastota Central Schools. On September 13, 2001, in Canastota, he married the former, Theresa E. Burdo. The couple shared a union blessed with 19 years of marriage. Mr. Johnson was a Machinist with Babbitt Bearings, Inc. in Syracuse for over thirty-five years. His memberships include, the Canastota Volunteer Fire Department and American Legion of Canastota, Post 140. He is survived by his wife, Theresa; a daughter, Crystal Emmert and her companion, Billy Everspaugh, Sr.; a stepson, Andrew McAllister; three grandchildren, Billy Everspaugh, Jr., Savanna Everspaugh, and Travis Everspaugh; a brother, Bruce Johnson all of Canastota; and a sister, Beverly Johnson of Oneida. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 11:00am – 1:00 pm at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home. Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota, NY 13032. Mr. Johnson’s funeral will be held at 1 p.m., at the funeral home, follow the calling hours. Pastor Donna Chapman of the Whitelaw Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Whitelaw Cemetery.
