Obituary of Florence A. Torres

CHITTENANGO . . . Florence A. Torres, 79, of 6880 Canaseraga Road, Chittenango, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at her home. She was born on April 17, 1942, in Canastota, the daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Mason) Miller. Florence spent her early years in Canastota, attending the Canastota schools, and has lived in Chittenango most of her life. She enjoyed shopping, her dog "Leo", and spending time with her family. Florence married Felix Torres, Sr., on November 19, 1960, in Clockville, NY. Felix died on December 31, 1996. Surviving are: two sons, Nicholas Torres, Sr. of Kirkville, and Ricky and Rosa Torres of Oneida; one daughter, Brenda Hartman of Chittenango; eleven grandchildren, Stephanie Salerno, Jessica Carlucci, Trevor Torres, Shereen Vincent, Joseph Reith II, Preston Hartman Jr., Trenten Torres, Nicole Torres, Christopher Torres, Christina Torres, and Billy Barnes; twenty-two great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one brother, Kenneth, Sr. and Susan Miller of Hamilton; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Florence was predeceased three sons, Felix Torres, Jr., Daniel L. Torres, and Raymond L. Torres; one daughter, Mary Torres; two grandsons, Nicholas Torres Jr., and Joshua Torres; three brothers, Ross Miller, Floyd "Gundy" Miller, and Bobby Miller; and five sisters, Barbara Schuster, Shirley Darling, Elizabeth Sampson, Ethel Miller, and Josephine Miller. Calling hours will be held from 12 Noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. Memorial services will follow at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Anthony F. Tosti will officiate. Burial will be in Lenox Rural Cemetery, Canastota.
