CANASTOTA . . .
Constance J. "Connie" Carlson, 78, of Barefoot Bay, FL, and a former Canastota resident, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Sebastian River Medical Center, FL, following a brief illness.
She was born on June 17, 1943, in Utica, the daughter of the late Crandall and Ethel (Klumbach) Jessmore.
Connie spent her early years in New Hartford, graduating from New Hartford Central School in 1962. She later lived in Canastota for many years, moving to Florida in 1998.
She worked for New York Telephone, which became Bell Atlantic, in Utica and Syracuse for 33 years, retiring in 1995.
Connie enjoyed spending time with her family, trips to the casino, trips to Yankee stadium, golfing, bowling, and relaxing at Camp Easy.
She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Canastota, Telephone Pioneers of America, Sebastian River Moose Lodge #1767 Charter 1764, Fraternal Order of Orioles Nest 272 in Sebastian, and the Mattydale American Legion Auxiliary Post 1832, and the Adams VFW Post 5344.
Connie married Carl J. Carlson on December 27, 1974, in Utica. Carl passed away on June 29, 1986.
Surviving are her children: Debbie (Herb) Wright of Rolesville, NC, Carolyn (Larry) Hastings of Schenectady, and Richard (Denise) Carlson of Cicero; six grandchildren, Rachel (Adam) Bice, Kayleigh (Dan) Sanford, Thomas Sykes, Kayla (Will) Dupre, Amanda Clark, and Jeff (Helena) Clark; two great grandchildren, Landon and Lincoln Bice; along with her life-long friends, Michael Quinn, and Norma (George) Seney; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Connie was predeceased by one brother, Howard Jessmore; and one sister, Joan Wagner.
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota, NY, 13032. Funeral services will be held following the calling hours at 5 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Leon Mozeliak, Jr., Pastor of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Chittenango, will officiate. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday with close friends and family in Lenox Rural Cemetery, Canastota.
In her memory, donations may be made to Wanderers' Rest Humane Association, Inc., PO Box 535, Canastota, NY 13032, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
