Anyone who worked in Foster Care or CPS for Oneida County DSS knew Jim Heidt.
I always would smile and feel relief when I'd see Jim's name listed as the Law Guardian for one of my kids in my caseload. He'd stride down the hall of Family Court, with briefcase and a huge smile. He would tell me he'd met already with the child( children) and I'd update him on current family events. He knew his job well. He represented them well and kept them safe.
I was in both Foster Care and CPS as caseworker and supervisor during the 1980's and 1990's. I left DSS in early 2000's.
I'm only learning now of Jim becoming Rev.Jim. That makes so much sense to me. Another way to serve .
On my FB page, 3-4 former caseworkers commented on my post of Jim's passing. All remember Jim Heidt the way I do: He cared. He listened. He knew the law and his responsibility. His laugh and smile made things infinitely better
