Obituary of Ronald D. Dawson

CANASTOTA . . . Ronald D. Dawson, 90, of Canastota, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at Oneida Health Hospital. Born in Oshkosh, WI, on August 18, 1932, Ron graduated from high school in Oshkosh, WI, where he was raised and educated; he later attended Ripon College. His first wife was the late Elaine Kupchunos. Mr. Dawson retired from IBM after more than twenty-five years of loyal service. Upon his retirement he became the co-owner and operator of Artistic Framing in Clay, NY. On June 18, 1988, Ron married the former Leslie M. Barry in New Jersey; the couple shared in a union of over thirty-five years of marriage. Ron was an avid golfer; he had a great passion for cooking; he enjoyed preparing meals for his family and friends on many different occasions. He is survived by his wife, Leslie; a son, Todd Dawson, and his wife Laura; and a son, Christopher Dawson. He is also survived by several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and his in-laws, Stephen and Kathrine Barry, Daniel and Kim Barry, Thomas Barry, and John and Vickie Barry. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice Rehbein. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at the Sylvan Beach Union Chapel, 805 Park Avenue, Sylvan Beach, NY 13157.
