Obituary of Frederick P. Adamo

CANASTOTA . . . Frederick P. Adamo, 88, of 2963 Seneca Avenue, Canastota, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Oneida Healthcare, following a brief illness. He was born on February 22, 1936, in Canastota, the son of the late Frederick and Grace (Dutcher) Adamo. Fred lived in Canastota all of his life, attending the Canastota schools. He worked at former Dew's Lumber Yard, Cerio's Modern Market, and DiVeronica Brothers Construction Company in Canastota for many years, and later operated his own carpentry business, and also sold wooden items he had made at his home. Fred was of a member of St. Agatha's Church in Canastota. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, woodworking, playing cards, and spending time with his family. Fred was married to the former Rosalie Cerio, who died on July 13, 2022. Surviving are: one son, Mark and Lisa Adamo of Chittenango; one daughter, Lori Adamo and Bob Barber of Canastota; five grandchildren, Christina Adamo, Matthew Adamo, Mitchell McCormick, Jason McCormick, and Thomas Jackson; two great grandchildren, Riley Swieton, and Isaiah Adamo; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including Peter Palamara, Darlene Chapin, and his many friends at Darlene's Kitchen. Fred was predeceased by two sisters, June Johnson, and Jane Royce. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the funeral home. The Rev. Christopher J. Ballard, Pastor of St. Agatha's Church, Canastota, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Agatha's Cemetery, Canastota. In his memory, contributions may be made to the Greater Lenox Ambulance Service, PO Box 382, Canastota, NY 13032, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
