Obituary of Thelma W. Dodge

CANASTOTA . . . Thelma W. Dodge, 80, of 715 N. Peterboro Street, Canastota, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at Crouse Community Center, Morrisville, following a lengthy illness. She was born on April 29, 1938, in Oneida, the daughter of the late Carl and Viola (Wagner) Wenham. Thelma spent her early years in Vernon Center, graduating from VVS High School in 1956. She has lived in Canastota since 1961. Thelma has been a resident of Crouse Community Center since 2014. She was a secretary at Cook and Ringrose in Rome, and later was a bookkeeper at Canastota N/C Corp. in Canastota. Thelma enjoyed collecting tea cups and bisque figurines, and spending time with her family. She was an active member of the United Church of Canastota, and served as Treasurer for many years. Thelma was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Silver City Chapter # 21, a member of the Advisory Board of Fidelity Assembly of IORG, and the Vernon Center Century Club. Thelma married Edward A. Dodge on October 7,1961, at Vernon Center UMC. Surviving besides her husband, Ed, are: one son, Stephen (Nancy) Dodge of Madison; one daughter, Linda Roseman of Canastota; five grandchildren, Marleah Roseman of Buffalo, Alex Roseman of Oneida, Ben Roseman of Canastota, and Stephanie and Anthony Dodge of Madison; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and her cherished cats, Princess and Tinkerbell. Thelma was predeceased by a son-in-law, Bill Roseman. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2018, at the United Church of Canastota, 144 Center Street, Canastota. The Rev. Charles F. Vollmer will officiate. Burial will be in Vernon Center Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota.
