Obituary of John F. DiGeorge
CANASTOTA . . .
John F. "Nemo" DiGeorge, 63, of 231 S. Canal Street, Canastota, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019, at Oneida Healthcare, after suffering an apparent heart attack at his home.
He was born on April 18, 1955, in Canastota, the son of the late John and Pauline (Balducci) DiGeorge.
Nemo has lived in Canastota all of his life, graduating from Canastota High School in 1973, later attending Morrisville College.
He was a produce broker for many years, and was a member of the Canastota and Oswego Growers Association. He was also a part owner of the former Johnny's Fruit Market in Canastota.
Nemo was a member of St. Agatha's Church in Canastota.
He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, horse racing, gambling, eating good home cooked food, and spending time with his family and friends. He is also a former race horse owner.
Surviving are: two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Anne DiGeorge and her fiancé, Robert Musacchio, and Nancy and Craig Cesario, all of Canastota; and several cousins.
Family and friends are invited to attend his funeral service, which will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at St. Agatha's Church, 329 N. Peterboro Street, Canastota, where a funeral mass will be held. The Rev. Stephen P. Wirkes will officiate. Burial will be in St. Agatha's Cemetery, Canastota. At Nemo's request there will be no calling hours, however, his family will greet friends at a luncheon following the mass at Ma & Pa's Restaurant, Canastota. Arrangements are under the supervision of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. In his memory, contributions may be made to Greater Lenox Ambulance Service (GLAS), PO Box 382, Canastota, NY, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
