Obituary of Dorothy A. Stevens

GEORGETOWN

Dorothy A. Stevens, 64, of 162 North Road, Georgetown, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018, at her home, following a lengthy illness. She was born on July 9, 1953, in Oneida, the daughter of Robert L. Tucker, Sr. and Dorothy (Colvin) Tucker. Dorothy spent her early years in Canastota and Munnsville, attending the Canastota schools. She has lived in Georgetown for the last 20 years.

She worked at Omega Wire in Cazenovia for several years, retiring in 2016, due to her health. She had previously worked at Marquart Switches in Cazenovia, and CVT in Sherburne.Dorothy enjoyed the outdoors, riding her Rhino UTV, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She married Dwight K. Stevens on April 14, 1990, in Peterboro.

Surviving besides her husband, Dwight, are: one son, Douglass Cordell of DeRuyter; two daughters, Dorine Stevens of Georgetown, and Donna Cordell of Frankfort; her mother, Dorothy Dorshenko of Morrisville; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Robert, Jr. and Sherry Tucker of Erieville, and Roger Tucker of Munnsville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sam and Joe Greene, and Ruth and Ed Bort, all of Munnsville; nine step-brothers and step-sisters; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dorothy was predeceased by her father, Robert L. Tucker, Sr.; her step-father, John Dorshenko; one sister, Marilyn Tucker; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 2, 2018, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. The Rev. William M. Wilcox, Pastor of the Fyler Community Church, will officiate. Spring burial will be in Clockville Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
